Greetings!

Aside from art shows - I'm going to focus more on paper goods and childrens art.
I'm starting with creating a couple greeting cards a day until I read around 20, and then i'll be opening shop and creating them!
My original illustrations will be up for licensing soon to anyone who is interested in purchasing designs. Check out my Flickr page to see all the latest designs and more to come.

They Draw & Travel

I put together this Map of my hometown Traverse City - I was in a rush to make it, because I wanted to make sure it was entered into their current contest (You-Topia). If you ever get a chance to visit T.C. - I'd recommend the summer or early fall - you'll want to be able to enjoy all the warm sunny sandy beaches.

Below are some of my fave entries for the You-Topia TDAT contest,
although there are a lot of other beautiful entries to see via TheDrawandTravel.com

99 Designs - entry

So I was all pumped up and made this nice logo, and it was rejected in 2 mins flat, haha.
It's okay, I didn't expect to win because so many people are entering.

However, I do really like this logo and how I was able to fit both the housing and bear into one simple, clean, clever, memorable logo.
So since it doesn't have a chance, I thought I'd at least post it up and share it.

If anything 99 designs will get me to make a bunch of logos, something I've been wanting to do for awhile now.

Cherry Bomb

Many thanks to the fine folks at Cherry Bomb for posting about my artwork.
Obviously, I really love and appreciate it when I get positive feedback - the fun part of being an artist.
Cherry Bomb is a design firm located in Mexico & they run a nice blog where they post up about various artists and inspiration.

For those who don't speak spanish here's a very rough translation on my part:
Fun, adorable illustrations, patterns, and a couple tributes to great cartoons such as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, as well as Adventure Time. The work of Kali Meadows is beautifully playful and retro.  Needless to say, a designer from Los Angeles, USA - A love for kawaii and pop culture, the perfect combination between a world of fantasy and graphic design, which has been outfitted with super fashion clients, the likes of Sanrio, Disney, Hot Topic, Urban Outfitters andForever 21.

Really happy that they dig my illustrations & special thanks to Nora La Disenadora for selecting my work!

Be sure to check out their site and all the designers - Cherry Bomb

Hi-Tec

I've had the pleasure of being able to create some fun keycaps with Loungefly, they're currently being sold at Urban Outfitters. It's a blast designing keycaps, basically just coming up with cute little characters that you think other people would identify with. In this day and age, who doesn't see themselves in mass multimedia anyway? Possibly some tribal people, but that's okay, I don't think they're the target market here.

Born To Be Wild

Up until this point - I have done very little patterns in personal artwork.
That's all changing now, plan on many patterns to come - also thought it would be a neat to then make a print that went along with each pattern. Not only am I planning on selling the prints, but I'm going to have them available as screen savers at the wonderful Screenfunk for iphones, ipods, and ipads.

Please enjoy and keep checking www.biteyourthumb.com for updates!

Bomberman!

I have a new upcoming show in Paris that I'm participating in.
It's called 8-bit and it's for Geekart.net the theme is video games.
As I've grown older more and more of my time goes into my art, and less and less into gaming.
Although, I can't help but love the classics that I grew up with.
I digress, without further ado - here's Bomberman!

I LOVE FRUIT STANDS

I must say, a fruit stand to me is like a beacon in the night.
During lunch I headed on down to the photography shop to return a lens rental.
I ended up purchasing some paper for my printer - I didn't think to go to photography store to pick up fine art paper. It makes complete sense, but I just thought that I had to order it online.
I mean, why don't art stores carry this stuff?

Anyway - side tracked... Ah yes, fruit stand.
On my way back to my car I spotted this fruit stand, and I had to go.
I was in luck, they had it all (pineapple, mango, watermelon, cantaloupe, jicama, cucumber, and coconut!). Topped with lime, salt, and hot chili pepper - YUM

It pretty much made my day, and I pretty much just wasted your time with ramblings of fruit.

Usagi - Pizza Box Exclusive

Granted I wasn't able to attend the Autumn Societies latest show "Shell Shock" last night at
Brave New World Comics in Philly.
I still can't contain my excitement to post about the exclusive pizza boxes that were up for grabs.
I was asked to do an exclusive print of Usagi which would be apart of a special pizza box goodie bag for the show. I don't think the print was actually on a pizza box as depicted above, and honestly I don't even really know everything (the awesome) they contained. So i'll keep everyone posted when I find out!

Link!

Everyone who is anyone loves Zelda, right?
I'm no exception & I've always wanted to do an illustration of Link.
I have no clue what took me so long.

Will Skyward Sword hurry up already?

Smart Cookie available at Hot Topic

Peer deep into my soul and you'll see that I love cookies. So much that I had to share my love with the Hot Topic world by expression of a cookie T-shirt.
If you're a smart cookie you'll buy one of these, unless you're a man- then you're a dumb cookie. It'd also look ridiculous on an elderly person.

Available for 22.50 - 24.50 at Hot Topic - Buy Here  and check out Loungefly for more awesome juniors T-shirts and accessories.

"Shell Shock" - A Ninja Turtles Tribute

The Autumn Society is at it again with yet another killer show, and this time it's a theme near and dear to my childhood heart - Teenaged Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Let me just say.....& it has to be said, I (not unlike most kids) was obsessed with TMNT.
That's why such an invitation to participate in a tribute show is nothing short of a real honor.
I'll never forget dressing up as Donatello for halloween & doing high kick action moves infront of the mirror (told you I was crazy about them).

The show will be insane - they even have the turtle van!
So if you're in or around Philly you need to stop on by Brave New Comics to see this awesome show that the Autumn Society put together. Oh and if you have some extra cash and want to buy my piece that'd be even better.

Pot Luck - Urban Light Studios

Here's my latest cooked up creations for Pot Luck - an Urban Light Studios art show currently showing in Seattle. More than 30 artists bringing some eye candy to the Greenwood-Phinney Art Walk. It's going on Noon-6pm today - so check it out!

This is a benefit show which helps raise money for the Greenwood Food Bank.

3B show - Battle of the bands

May 5th marked the premiere of the 3B show down at gallery 1988 (venice location). It was freaking awesome and tons of fun with beer, cookies, and two DeLoreans to boot!
The show was curated by my pal Joe Chogrin - one of the Autumn Societies founders. Artists were given three movie titles to depict starting with the letter B (Back to the Future, Bill & Ted, Beetle Juice).

I've posted the strongest of my three - Bill and Ted!
The framed print displayed at the show sold out almost immediately, but I managed to make a limited edition of 15 - which means you can still get your hands on one for only $25!

Purchase
13x19 signed giclee limited edition print of 15 - on velvet fine art archival paper.

Saturday, September 25, 2010

I finished my piece for my very first show,
and If you live in Chicago you should check it out!
The show is Monsters vs Robots - I chose Monster, obviously.
It's open October 2nd at the Oh No Doom! Gallery.
They're located on Milwaukee Ave.

I won't be there since I'm 3000 miles away.
That said, I will most likely be having another show in the spring & I'll attend that.

I love Chicago, cold but being a midwestern native I can handle it... BRING IT!

Quasar

This is Quasar, I'm going to be making him as a plush.
I've decided to make plush mustache pals for my own fun.
Right now I'm setting his pattern up in illustrator, yay!
